AI doesn’t just change our tools. It forces us to rethink what it means to be a tech agency. Alex will help us explore this!

Technical Skills in the Age of Generative AI

For several years now, and even more so with generative AI, skills that were once considered highly technical have become accessible to a much wider audience.

Coding, exploring, documenting, testing and analysing: AI is now accelerating an ever-growing range of these activities. Automation is taking on a new dimension with agents capable of handling increasingly complex tasks.

For an agency like Apptitude, the question is no longer simply what AI can do for us, but what we want to entrust to it, with what level of autonomy and control, including once systems are in production.

This is where expertise once again becomes central

Moving faster does not necessarily mean producing better results. Delegating a task to AI only creates value if we can understand, evaluate and take responsibility for the outcome.

When AI becomes part of a system, it must be possible to supervise and control it in production: measure its performance, detect errors, set boundaries for its autonomy and take back control when necessary.

At Apptitude, our value goes beyond code. It lies in our ability to understand the challenges, design the right solutions, ensure their quality and evolve them over time.

AI broadens this responsibility: we must now design, understand, supervise and operate systems capable of taking action.

Alex takes on the role of AI Technology Transformation Lead at Apptitude

It is against this backdrop that, as of 1 October, Alex has taken on the role of AI Technology Transformation Lead at Apptitude.

Formalising this new role addresses a very practical need: moving beyond experimentation and making AI a core engineering and transformation priority.

Alex’s responsibilities include evolving our use of AI and the practices surrounding it, leading its implementation and ensuring that our Technology Team continues to develop its skills and expertise.

The challenge will be to experiment, measure, make informed decisions and, above all, turn these new capabilities into better ways of designing and delivering our projects.

“Tomorrow, knowing how to develop software will remain an essential foundation. But knowing how to develop with AI, understanding what it produces, challenging its answers and orchestrating increasingly autonomous systems while retaining control over what we build will be even more important than it is today.” — Alex

A word from Apptitude’s management team:

“Alex is an EPFL-trained engineer who has always been committed to technological innovation in Switzerland. His career has taken him across a range of industries and multicultural environments. He has gained extensive experience through consulting, working with start-ups and leading his own projects. Throughout his career, one thing has remained constant: a deep curiosity and a desire to put technology at the service of sustainability and create a positive impact. Since joining Apptitude, he has been proactive in putting forward ideas and driving experimentation, as well as laying the foundations for our initial AI initiatives. Recognising his commitment through this new role was a natural next step. Congratulations, Alex, on this new chapter!” — Apptitude SA Management Team
